Put the Red light district on the web
May 7, 2008 | Filed under amsterdam
Amsterdamblog strongly agree with tendency on putting limitations to the Red light district.
Ok, the initiative Red light fashion sounds a bit conservative and commercial at the same time, but is for sure better to see persons showed behind a window, as they were animals for sale.
If you are so much into prostitution, update yourself and go trough internet for your paid sex. Website like Pleasure-escort.nl, Angels of Amsterdam or Pretty Escorts, allows to go over this hateful practise of the windows, with a cool web escort service.
Ok, maybe you will complain for the price, but come on, if you want to go for money sex you should really go for it, other way just put some porn films in your Dvd.
And her comes a last link for who want to know more about prostitution world sow from who work in it: Letters from working girls is a nice project to collect experience from real girls on the core of the business. This is just for your personal culture.
Gelato in Amsterdam, finding ice-creams
May 7, 2008 | Filed under coffee-shops and bars
From outside you would not trust this Italian ice-creams shop. Almost in the Red Light District and with the stereotypical Italian colours, this gelateria seem just bullshit for tourists.
However the appearances deceive, and infact “Tofani” is appreciable enough. Maybe you will not cry for the joy, but for sure you will not be disappointed at all.
Are there better ice-creams shops in the centre? Stay tuned, ’cause we are going to check out.
Where: Tofani is in Kloveniersburgwal in the corner with Nieuwe Markt (check the map after the jump)

May 5, 2008 | Filed under to do
As we are working on the ambitious project to Un-kitsch Amsterdam we have to identify the top list of enemies to fight. And I don’t have any doubt about the first three.
3) Uncountable tourist watching us from the canal boats.
Nuke solution: Kamikaze dolphins
2) Cofeeshops and stoned teenager.
Nuke solution: give them Lsd and some trees.
1) Exploitation of human being in Red Light District.
Nuke solution: jerking off with some sophisticated porn web site.
Dutch learning courses, if the solution was Skype?
May 2, 2008 | Filed under expats, lesson and courses, tip of the day
Nobody really wants to learn Dutch, isn’t it? But exapats life is hard and at one point it might be possible that you have to force yourself to learn Dutch. The tip of the day, today, is to check out Myngle a new web based project (stil full of bugs) to learn languages where you can find teachers and students from all over the world.
Once you have book your first Dutch lesson (the first usually is free) you will pay your teacher via paypal or similar.
The lesson will be on Skype with all the advantages and disadvantages of the system.
The cost of a lesson can be very different from professor to professor, from 10 to 30 euro.
Is it come the time to take your first Dutch lesson in pyjamas?
Review FOAM PhotoGallery – Jessica Dimmock, The Ninth Floor
April 30, 2008 | Filed under amsterdam, art
Be prepaired to see a traumatic photoserie of the daily struggles of the scum of the earth. They even get babies. It’s a group of heroin addicts in Manhatten NYC.
Dimmock (1978) joined them on the Ninth Floor appartment for three years. She focussed on the human relations. The view is so close, it makes it sympathetic and ruthless at the same time.

Street Art before Amsterdam Queen’s day
April 29, 2008 | Filed under art, photos
In case you want to secure your spots to sell your old crap on queensday, just get tape and mark it. It works.
Sometimes the signs stay for months.
The unwritten rule is you don’t sit with your stuff on this place.
You don’t even have to leave your name. Just mark it. It seems something medieval to me.
Some make me happy, especially the geometric ones. like the White Square near the Waterloo Square. It’s just plain Street Art to me.

Amsterdam tango lessons, where to dance
April 29, 2008 | Filed under lesson and courses
A course of Tango. Whether you like it or not, at one point it comes the time when your partner asks you to join some tango lessons. Amsterdam in that sense offers at least one place which seems kind of cool, the Amsterdam Tango Center. Sometimes they also have free lessons for beginners, so check out the website to know what’s going on.
Unluckily I haven’t been there, so I can’t really give an opinion, or even say if there is something better in the city. If somebody of you have some experience, please feel free to tell us about it in the comments.
